Now we’re going to do a rabo de arraia, which is pretty much a meia lua de compasso with our hands on the floor. In Capoeira Regional we do meia lua de compasso. In Capoeira Angola, people do pretty much rabo de arraia. But sometimes, people in Capoeira Regional the use the rabo de arraia, but it’s pretty much something done in Capoeira Angola.

The foundation is pretty much the same as meia lua de compasso. The only difference is that you don’t place your hands on the floor. Of course, now you have to be very careful about not really coming back up. There could be an attack right after. Try to finish back. So we’re starting with the same idea of the meia lua de compasso and the ginga, arms up here, and you just step. One, two, looking. And then from there you just swing your body across, and finish all the way back. Again, you step one, two, and kick with your right leg. All the way back. Be very careful.

I’ll go a little bit faster. When you do the rabo de arraia, try to use your core as much as you can. Keep your balance on the supporting leg, always looking at your partner. Finish back. As you become more experienced, once you do a rabo de arraia, you can do any other kick. Or even go for a take down.
