Biggest Natural Disasters That Keep Happening Around the World

Every year natural disasters occur all over our planet: volcanos erupt, fierce tornados destroy entire cities, and there are millions of earthquakes. A natural disaster is a frightening and incredible phenomenon. And after a storm, people usually face severe consequences. For example, have you ever heard of hurricane Allen? Rare and extremely powerful, the storm is one of the few to reach Category 5 – the highest possible. It caused more than $2 billion in damage!

Or take Hurricane Dorian. It’s the most powerful tropical cyclone to hit the Bahamas. The hurricane flattened most of the structures on the islands and sweeps them into the sea. So yes, there is no bigger force than nature. One of the largest tsunami waves ever recorded broke in 1958. A tsunami with a record run-up height of 1700 feet (518 m) occurred in Lituya Bay, Alaska. A landslide, caused by an earthquake, created a mega wave. It surged over the headland and washed away trees, plants, and soil down to bedrock. Let’s find out what created the biggest waves in recorded history.
