TOEFL Speaking Done by a NATIVE SPEAKER!

TOEFL Speaking is the weirdest and oftentimes the hardest part of the TOEFL test for students. Interested why? Read further.

TOEFL Speaking questions 1 and 2 have nothing to do with the real life, because in real life you don’t normally find yourself in a situation where somebody asks you a random question, gives you 15 seconds to think and 45 seconds to speak. And not just speak – TOEFL test makers want you to voice your opinion on a particular matter and back it by two arguments/examples, using profound grammar and vocabulary, connectors and various grammar structures.

But the worst part for me were the questions itself. Here is an example of a real TOEFL Speaking question (Q1) – “An airline had a somewhat abstract painting by Picasso of a nude woman on a wall at an airport and some people complained that it should be taken down. What do you think?” What I think? Oh-oh, 15 seconds might not be enough!

Main TOEFL Speaking preparation tip – be ready to state your opinion and give at least two arguments to prove it. And practice should be the the largest part of your TOEFL preparation plan.

Here are some sample questions for you to practice after you finish watching this video.

1) Should a person shower the night before work or in the morning?
2) When a man takes a woman to dinner, should he pay or should they go “dutch”? (Each pays for him/herself.)
3) Do you prefer reading e-books or real books?
4) Describe something you do during your favorite season.
5) Which is better to lose weight: dieting or exercising?
6) Which is better for a history class: online or classroom learning?
