Basic Embroidery Stitches-Part 01| Stem Stitch Tutorial | HandiWorks #100

Stem Stitch: Also known as crewel stitch, stalk stitch. Stem Stitch is my favorite hand embroidery stitch, because it is so versatile and so attractive. It is one of the easiest to be done and perhaps even one of the first stitches to be taught to any beginner.
Whipped stem stitch: Once you have mastered stem stitch, there are several decorative variations to the the stitch that you might like to practice- one of them would be whipped stem stitch.
Stem stitch whipped has a slightly more raised appearance and has the foundations of a stem stitch and then the whipping stitches are worked in over this row.
