Bichu Buti ka Saag Uttarakhand | Stinging Nettle | Kunal Kapur Kumaoni Garhwali Pahari Kandali Sisnu

Bichu buti or stinging nettle is plant that grows wild in the hills esp in #uttarakhand. Interestingly it is made into a saag and eaten. As the name suggests the entire plant has small hair like needles that can cause immense painif touched. It is generally plucked using tongs and then either boiled or singed over fire to take out the effect of the needles. The sting can be so bad that even cattle would stay away from it. But then again we have figured out a way to eat it as a saag to enjoy the benefits of the plant.
#bichubuti is eaten with madua roti or steamed rice and is part of the classic uttrakhand cuisine. Many of the adults may recall being accidently stung by it as a kid or their mothers threatening them with it if they misbehaved. #saag #bichubutisaag #bichoo #stingingnettle #nettle #kunalkapurrecipes #chefkunal #kunalkapur #himalaya #himalayancuisine #kumaoni #garhwali #pahari #KKitchen #KunalKapurRecipes #ChefKunal #kunalkapoor #kunalkapur #chef #sisnu #kandali
