SUMMARY
-The main idea of the program is that all foods are divided into two different groups: alkaline versus acidic ones. The program is supposed to help you normalize your body’s pH level, which should ideally be slightly alkaline with a pH of 7.3 to 7.45.
-The diet normalizes all of your digestive processes, allows nutrients to break down and be absorbed way faster, and stabilizes your appetite so you stop overeating. You’ll see plenty of positive changes in your appearance too.
-All you have to do is follow one rule: your food intake must consist of 80% alkaline products and 20% acidic ones.
-Alkaline products include all types of milk, apart from cow milk, fruits with some exceptions, all types of greens and salads, quick rye bread and any grains, nuts, apart from pistachios, cashews and almonds, vegetables and root plants, just no potatoes, legumes, or corn, lean fish, like pike perch or flatfish, green and white tea as well as smoothies. The acidic products are cow milk and any products made from it, like yogurt and cottage cheese, lemonade and soda, alcohol, candy, pastries, canned foods, and sausages, black tea and black coffee, meat, smoked- or cooked meat products, poultry, eggs, and fatty fish, baked goods, mayo, ketchup, etc.
-For breakfast, you can have vegetables, fruit, soy milk, yogurt, no more than 2 eggs, and a couple of slices of rye bread. Lunch can consist of about 5-7 oz of protein-rich foods, like meat, fish or eggs. Throw in some grains, vegetables, pasta, or greens on the side and treat yourself to about 2 oz of fruit or dried fruit for a post-lunch dessert. As for dinner, try to go for vegetables, grains, pasta, or fruit.
-Alcohol, smoked meat products, canned- or baked goods, and candy should be limited to no more than one serving a day.
-You shouldn’t follow alkaline eating if you have heart disease, atrophic gastritis, renal disease, or hypoacidity of the stomach, often associated with acid reflux.
