Aaron: Hi guys, it’s Aaron.

Kristina: And I’m Kristina.

Aaron: And we’re professional dance instructors here in New York City. Today we’re going to be continuing in our foxtrot series taking a look at the corner step. Now this is a really great element that we’re going to use inside of our foxtrot to, one, change direction, as well as to help us avoid obstacles out on the dance floor, whether it may be other couples around us, or to just get us back to facing the direction we need to be travelling.

So what we’re going to do is start in closed position with our partner here and we’re going to start with a basic step. Walk, walk, side together. Now if any of you at home can see this, there’s actually a great column behind Kristina here, and just so we avoid that, we’re going to use this corner step action. So as the gentleman, I’m going to step forward on my left foot and the lady is going to step back on her right. And we’re going to rock and replace our weight, stepping back, forward for the ladies, and turning a quarter of a turn, side, together, to change direction.

So let’s take a look at that one more time together. And slow, slow, quick quick. Slow, slow, quick quick. And again repeating that same step. Slow, slow, quick quick, using it to turn about a quarter of a turn each time. Slow, slow, quick quick, and you see how we can just use this to keep turning us until we are facing the direction we need to be. Now let’s try this with some music.
