How to Knit: Reverse Stockinette | Simple Stitch for Beginners | Knitting Lesson

The reverse stockinette stitch was confusing to me when I was learning to knit, because it seems odd that there is a stitch that is simply another stitch (the stockinette stitch) but…flipped over. I just didn’t understand what use that could be!

But often, the point of using reverse stockinette is to add depth to the knitting (mostly by being knit next to regular stockinette stitch for contrast), and is very popular for using behind or next to 3D elements like cables to make them ‘stand out’ even more.
