How to Knit Stripes with Straight Needles | Beginner Knitting Lesson | Stripes in Flat Knitting

This video shows you how to add a single narrow stripe into your knitting when using straight needles (i.e. when ‘flat knitting’).

I then show you how to weave the yarn tail into your knitting when the stripe is finished.

The alternative to weaving in the yarn tail end is to instead carry the secondary (red) coloured yarn along the edge of your work until you require it again. This is what you would do if you were, for instance, knitting a scarf with red stripes repeated all along the length of it.

I really hope the video helps you with your knitting.

Thanks for watching!

P.S. Just an addition to the video: At the end of doing your first purl row in the red colour, you will encounter the double thickness stitches that you just created in the knit row.
Knit each of these double-thickness stitches as if they were just regular single stitches (essentially doing a k2tog stitch for each one). Any questions, please ask 🙂
