Medical termination of pregnancy is an option nowadays. Combination of mefepristone with misoprostol can be used till 9 weeks of pregnancy. It can be used as a medical termination of pregnancy, or if the baby has not come out well as a blighted ovum, the baby came in but did not proceed with the growth or a heartbeat leading to a missed miscarriage. These medicines are not to be taken over the counter without consulting a doctor, and that is very important as it can be life threatening.it should be done under supervision. The first set should be taken orally and maybe after 24 – 48 hours, the next medicine is put internally, inside the vagina and your bleeding can start in the next 24 hours, which can last for 5 -7 days, but can go for 2 weeks also. Another check scan is done to confirm if the pregnancy is totally out. In many case the pregnancy can grow inspite of the medication, that is the success rate of the medicine is not 100%. Second case, there can be incomplete abortion, the products are still left leading to persistent bleeding or infection. So whole process has to be done under medical supervision, not on your own.
