MATAR CHICKEN CURRY | MATAR CHICKEN KORMA

Matar Chicken Korma is a fragrant chicken curry cooked with green peas (Matar). The chicken matar recipe is a unique preparation.

Matar Chicken Korma

Ingredients:

Chicken, with bones – 750 gms.
Onions , sliced – 3 medium
Green peas (Matar) – 1 cup
Coriander leaves, finely chopped – 2 tbsp
Cooking Oil – 3 tbsp

For marinade :

Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder – 4 tsp
Garam Masala powder – 1 ½ tsp
Curd – 200 ml
Ginger-garlic paste – 2 ½ tsp
Poppy seeds or Khuskhus paste – 3 tsp
Green chilies, slit – 3
Salt to taste

Preparation :

– Clean the chicken & put in all the ingredients for the marinade. Mix well. Set aside for around an hour.
– To make fried onion paste – Fry the sliced onions until light brown in colour, coarsely grind into a paste .

Process :

– Take a Kadhai & heat oil.
– Once the oil is hot, add the marinated chicken & fry in medium heat for 10 mins.
– Now add the fried onion paste, mix well and lower the heat.
– After 3 minutes add the green peas, mix well & simmer for 5 mins.
– Add a cup of water and continue to cook for 15 mins or till chicken is soft and oil separates.
– Add the finely chopped coriander leaves, mix well & cover and cook for 3-4 mins till gravy is thick.
– Serve & enjoy with rice or roti.
