Everybody knows that the blue whale is the largest living creature on Earth. But is it the largest to have ever inhabited this planet? Actually, there were times when creatures bigger than the blue whale lived on Earth — they were real prehistoric giants. However, even today nature can surprise us with its huge creations.

– The Pando quaking aspen colony, a.k.a. “The Trembling Giant,” consists of 47,000 genetically identical clones. They grow from a single underground parent clone and behave as one organism.
