Why Does Vaginal Odor after period happen and how to get rid of it? – Dr. Shefali Tyagi

Vaginal Odour is very common complaints may be upto 50 to 60% women can complain of vaginal order in a regular OPD setup. So why does it happen, during certain time of your period the odour of the vagina can be slightly different but if it has started becoming very foul smelling or fishy and if you feel that it’s much more than usual ordour you must go and visit a doctor. The most common reason can be infections, the most common of the infections being the east infection or the candidia. So these cells start thriving in your vagina and they lead to A fishy smell. The Other common reasons which can be there, the Other type of infections can be bacterial vaginosis and chlamydia, Gonorrhea and other bacteria which can lead to the infection of vagina and then leading to a bad odour. The second common reason can be that there is in balance of pH of the vagina which is generally acidic, so if you are not careful or if you are not keeping a good hygiene or if you are sexually active quite a bit, then the pH gets disturbed which can lead to again odour coming which is not very pleasant. Diabetes is another reason why you can have a vagina odour again it disturbs the friendly bacteria of the vagina. Wearing too tight undergarments and synthetic undergarments you can too much talcum powder, using soaps very frequently on the area can also have negative effect on the flora of the vagina leading to vaginal odour. Another reason why is vaginal odor come is because of use of antibiotics, antibiotics kill the friendly bacteria of the vagina again leading to the growth of unfriendly ones and that and turned leads to a bad vaginal odour.
