How to Get Rid of a Sty (Stye) – 4 Effective Home Remedies

A sty occurs when pus builds up on your eyelid, and the bump turns red and becomes painful. It’s when the glands that produce the greasy secretion around your eyelashes get inflamed.

This inflammation could be due to the unnecessary accumulation in your glands, or an infection caused by bacteria that live on the surface of your skin. However, sties are not contagious, and can be treated at home.

In today’s video we’re going to show you 4 great ways to treat sties at home:

Home Remedies for Stye – Recipe 1

Ingredients

1 small piece of gauze;
1 cup of water;
1 teaspoon of chamomile.

Instructions

Make the chamomile tea. Put the washed leaves in the boiling cup of water. Next, strain the tea and let it cool.
Once it has cooled off, dip the gauze in the tea and wring it out.
Place the gauze on your eye until it cools completely.
Once it’s cooled down, put on a new warm compress.
Repeat this procedure for at least 30 minutes, twice a day.

Home Remedies for Stye – Recipe 2

All that you’ll need is a piece of cucumber.
Cut it into thin slices and place them on the affected area. Leave them there for about 20 minutes.
Cucumber has an anti-inflammatory effect, and will relieve the irritation as soon as it is applied.
It has vitamins K, C, and B1, potassium and bromine, which will help cure the sty.

Home Remedies for Stye – Recipe 3

Guava leaves are a great natural remedy for sties.
Make an infusion with some leaves and dip a cloth in it to apply to your sty.
Use this remedy 3 times a day until your sty goes away.

Home Remedies for Stye – Recipe 4

Put raw potato slices directly on your sty or make a raw potato paste in the blender with a little distilled water.
Another option is to grate some raw potato and place it on your sty.
The potato acts as an anti-inflammatory agent.
It will certainly reduce the swelling and pain.

Finally, always make sure your hands are clean before touching your eyes.
