Accuracy of HIV antibody ELISA test after 5 6 months of exposure – Dr. Ramakrishna Prasad

The question being asked is five to six months after a potential exposure of HIV in the form of either an unprotected sex or sharing injection needles, unsafe injection or blood transfusion what is the accuracy of an ELISA test or a fourth generation test in ruling out HIV. If the test after five months or six months is negative regardless of which of these you are talking about and there have been no further exposure since the exposure five to six months previously then this can be considered a conclusive negative test and I would reach a conclusion that you do not have HIV infection and have not been infected with the virus.
