Passage of stool in a newborn is variable. so in babies who are on breastfeed or on formula feed it can be as varied as babies who pass stool s multiple times a day or 2 to 3 times a day. Rather than counting the number of stools it is important to look at the consistency of the stools. So the natural consistency is curdy consistency. So any change in the consistency in this pattern can amount to constipation. So most of the times the constipated stools will be hard pellet stools. Baby might cry during passing stools and if they are putting excessive strain in the buttocks and all the muscles they start to clench and make forceful exit of stools common mistake while making formula feed to use an extra amount of powder to the desired quantity of water;. So f that extra amount of powder is used it might cause dehydration to the baby and it might cause constipation. So there is particular formula that helps in smoothing stools. So the babies will end up having constipation. So it is rather advisable not to take formuaal feeds. So the common mistakes made while using formula feed is using eesise amount of powder, which can lead to dehydration of the baby and inturn leads to constipation. So babies who are on formula feed there is no need to switch on to alternate formula feed. So the same formula feed they can continue. If there is change of formula feed there is change of harmful damage rather than being beneficial in nature and the constipation can happen when transition for breast milk to formula milk. So it is advisable to consult the pediatrician because it might not be always related to the formula feed. There can be underlying problems. So that needs to be addressed. So consult a pediatrician and let them take a call on this if it is related to formula feed or there is any other reason. And that can be taken care of.
