Can we place transplanted hair in between natural hair to increase density? – Dr. K Prapanna Arya

Hair transplantation is done in bald areas or in areas where there is relatively lot of hair that has thinned out called as well as hair as it does not contribute to the external appearance. Placing hair in an area which has a lot of thickness or density can cause trauma to the existing hair due to which the hair follicle can go into shock loss.in shock loss the existing natural hair would start to fall. One of the reasons for this is the transplanted hair is placed using slits in the blade or with the help of an implantor where there is decrease in blood supply or edema to the area to the other. The reason is that there is always a possibility that while placing the transplanted hair we could also damage the existing follicles. Fortunately the shock loss is reversible and would be there for a period of 6 months to1 year. When thereafter you could notice hair growth of your existing natural hair. But rarely at times it could be permanent. If there are pockets of hair thinning in the scalp where the hair have thinned out to more than 80%, then you can consider a hair transplant in a smaller density.
