Hair loss and getting bald is probably one of the worst and painful experience for a person and causes depression. Hair loss and baldness affects individual’s personality and psyche. Hair loss and Baldness can be due to combination of factors such as ageing, change in hormonal status such as 5 hydroxy testosterone and a family history of baldness. Hair transplantation technique involves removal of small pieces of hair bearing scalp grafts from a donor area usually at the back of the head which is genetically resistant to baldness and relocating it to the bald area or the area where thinning of hair has happened. The two important techniques are FUT or traditionally the strip method where the strip of skin from back of head, hair bearing skin is taken and sleevered out and individual follicular units are dissected and relocated into the bald area. The more recent way of hair transplantation is the FUE technique where individual follicular units are drilled out using mortar devices and transplanted into the bald area or the area which has to transplanted. A combination of these two techniques can be used to increase the density of hair. In some cases where back of head is deficient in hair we generally use beard hair or body hair. Bur body and beard hair has different textures growth pattern and density. So if we transplant it to bald area in the head region it will never be same as the scalp hair. It will have different growth pattern and texture. There are certain important points to follow in order to get best hair transplantation results To get the height of the hairline correct by measuring the proper anatomical landmarks, to implant only single follicular hair grafts in the front row for natural hairline appearance and feel , to create temporal angles of acute and right angles in men and rounded angles in women, to form and design temporal hunches properly to get natural appearance, the micro grafts should be placed in an irregular saw toothed manner to give a natural appearance. The direction in which the grafts are placed in bald areas.
