Yes heart problems cause breathing difficulty in kids. generally the way they present are with fats breathing and chest, noisy breathing, choking episodes, or they may even preset with recurrent respiratory tract infections like in pneumonia and sometimes they can present with deep shallow breathing, that is in a sick child and they can also present with oxygen desaturation, that is it can lead to bluish discoloration if there is any lung infection, apart from the usual babies who are having bluish changes of nails and lips due to the heart disease itself. So these are the way the child can present with breathing difficulties in a child with heart disease. So the general precautions to follow for a child with heart disease. Is to keep the baby warm, and particularly in a neonate or a small baby, the feeding position is to be taken care of because of the position is not taken care of them the child can have reflux, and can chocked and can aspirate the contents into the lung. So it need to be taken care of. After feeding the baby should be burped to prevent chocking while aspiration and the other thing is to avoid dust because that can precipitate any lung pathologies. assure nutritious food for the kids, that is for older kids. Avoid unnecessary travels because these are prone for recurrent infections, because it will be very difficult to teat.
