First we need to know what could be the causes of the sudden swelling of the face. It can be as diverse as an allergy, infection, ant bite, systemic disease like renal disease, or thyroid disease. However when we go only into the eye most often it is ant bite. Ant bite, insect bite will be usually only on one eye. If it is going two eyes then it is going to be contact dermatitis. That means the person has put some eye makeup or powder or soap and the skin of the eye has got very inflamed and swollen. Whatever be the condition we need to first find that out because we are also comparing this with a systemic condition. It is very essential to get a complete blood count, bleeding time, clotting time, renal function test, liver function test and thyroid levels. History will tell you was there any infection, allergy or insect bite. You will have to treat the systemic disease. Treating the local disease you will have to keep the eye clean. It will be dependable on what the person likes. If it is inflammation the person would like hot fermentation. If it is an allergy the person would like a cold compress. Along with that you will require some antibiotics if there is an infection, steroid medication if there is an allergy. Put a piece of cucumber in the refrigerator and cover your eyes. Take some fresh milk cream and use that as a night cream. This usually will tide over infection, allergies and bites. This will not go to the systemic conditions
