I Went For Run Every Night For 15 Minutes and Here’s What Happened

Ever given thought to just how great it is to break a sweat after the sun goes down?

Well, you might not know this but night runs can actually do your health a solid.

In fact, according to science, evenings are an excellent time to run or perform any kind of exercise.
At this time, everything from your muscle strength to flexibility and energy levels is at their peak.

So, of course, you can always step out of the house to do what you couldn’t in the morning.

As a fitness enthusiast, I’ve always wanted to know what it feels like to hit the pavements at the end of the day.
And of course, I decided to do it every night for 15 minutes.
As you probably guessed, after going for a few nights runs, I became hooked!

And of course, this post will let you in on some of the amazing benefits I got to enjoy.
Let’s dive in!

1. It Felt Great
As mentioned earlier, night runs are perfect for all fitness enthusiasts — everything from your flexibility to your muscle strength is at their peak.
Of course, I experienced this great change each time I went for my night-runs.
Yes, after winning the battle against the cozy sofa and tempting glass of wine, it felt super awesome to pound the urban pavements in the dark.
It’s also good to know that your epinephrine and norepinephrine levels peak during noon (even all the way to nighttime).
And of course, these hormones set you up for a good run — you’ll get to feel super excited and that’s huge.

2. Run Longer
Since your energy levels and flexibility are at their peak, there’s no doubt that you’ll be fired up to run for longer.
I sure know I was! With more fuel and peak lung capacity, I won’t be surprised if you actually go for a 30-minute night run instead of 15!
Just throw on the right clothing and you’re good to go!

3. Lower Blood Pressure
Got high blood pressure? Just step out for a night run!
Now, I don’t have high blood pressure but according to research, nighttime exercise can lower systolic blood pressure.
It’s however important to note that this benefit is more evident in non-dippers than dippers — pretty sure you get the point!

4. Lose Weight
Of course, regular running can increase your chances of getting the body of your dreams.
But, trust me, little night runs can hasten the results, even in ways you never thought possible!
How? Well, in my case, my decision to step out to pound the neighborhood pavements every night kept me out of the fridge.
In essence, I was able to overcome my mindless eating that usually occurs after dinner. What could be healthier than that?

5. Sleep Better
Contrary to what you think, exercising at night makes it easier to get your precious beauty sleep.
In fact, after my 15-minute night runs, I found that I was able to drift to a super relaxing sleep right after taking a shower.
I’ll recommend you make a big switch to nighttime running if you always find it hard to sleep at night — you’ll be totally amazed by the results!

And that’s it! These are five fantastic benefits of running every night for 15 minutes.
Don’t know about you but I’m going keep doing this — I’m never going to stay in when the evening draws in!
And oh, be sure to join a running club if you can’t go solo — better safe than sorry. Stay healthy!
