Normally urine has got a urinous smell, that is very normal for everybody , but if the odour is lasting and it is very strong, then there could be certain reasons for it. There are certain foods to increase the odour of the urine, for example foods like asparagus, onion, garlic and coffee are known to increase the smell of the urine, then avoid that particular food. In case of dehydration, the person not drinking enough water, can lead to bad smell of the urine. This is a strong pungent smell that can develop. So drink lots of water and that will correct the issue. Also bad odour can be seen in infections like urinary tract infections. In diabetes, there is smell of the urine, it is a sweet smelling urine. In liver problems also, we find there is smell of the urine. We find that in congenital conditions like phenylketonuria and maple syrup disease where there is strong smell of the urine If you see the urine smell is not subsiding even after drinking lot of water, despite correcting the diet, and lasting for more than 2 days, then take medical advise, it will help you to come out of this problem.
