The stress and the emotional changes that happen post marriage may be the cause of delayed, irregular periods, few months post marriage. Now if this is the only cause of this, then appropriate counseling and it would settle down gradually. Or there are the causes like polycystic ovary or weight gain, hormonal imbalance maybe the cause of regularly irregular period. So if it continues to be or if the patient is very obese, you have to rule out other causes of irregular periods and treat appropriately with or without hormone, weight reduction, counseling. These are the options. But just a single episode of irregular periods maybe just a change in the stress or the emotional behavior of the patient. Just get a withdrawal bleed to get off the period and once that is done, nothing else is required.
