What do those weird string things on a banana do to your body?

Everyone loves bananas, I mean what’s not to love about those tasty yellow-skinned fruits? They’re delicious, nutritious and also work as an excellent addition to your mouthwatering smoothie.

But what’s that one thing you hate to see on your banana? Or something you throw away along with the peel? Pretty sure you’re itching to say “those weird strings!” Well, you’re not alone on that one.

The thing is, some people find those strings to be unappetizing as their name while others don’t mind eating them along with the banana.

Well, what you should know is that those strings are an essential part of your banana, in fact, bananas have all the nutrients because of them! They distribute the vitamins B2, B5, B6, B9, and C, as well as magnesium, manganese, and potassium up and down the banana as it ripens.

Moreover, they’re not scientifically known as banana strings. They’re actually called “Phloem Bundles.”

Phloem bundles? Well, phloem is a complex tissue that plays the role of transporting food and water in a plant so it can have enough minerals, food, water, and nutrients to grow. So you can see that those unappealing strings are not just there for decorative purposes — they’re likely to be a healthy addition to your diet!

So, if you’re one of the many people who has been throwing away those healthy bundles before eating your banana, I suggest you start eating them without a second thought! You’ll be doing your health a solid!
