About this video: Have you, a friend or a family member been diagnosed with a lazy eye and wonder what causes lazy eye? In this video, Joseph J. Allen, OD, FAAO will help you answer what is a lazy eye and what lazy eye looks like. Lazy eye is often known by the medical term amblyopia and is often confused with a person having an eye turn, also known as strabismus. Amblyopia can be caused by different things, such as strabismus, refractive amblyopia, and from ocular deprivation as well. Thankfully, if caught early, amblyopia or “lazy eye” can be treated and oftentimes vision can be improved.
