What is Low Lying Placenta & its causes? – Dr. Lalitha Sudha Alaparthi
Placenta is usually formed after birth and sometimes incidentally on the third month or fifth month anomaly scan, it is found out that the placenta is low lying. This is not actually a matter of concern because in 80% of the cases, the placenta usually migrates upwards and when you look again on the growth scan, the placenta is back in its normal place. So why a low lying placenta is formed is, there could be sometimes surgeries in previous pregnancies or there could be termination of pregnancy by surgical method of DNC or there could be fibroid removals from the uterus or sometimes when there is a previous caesarean scar, or if you had a previous placenta previa, placenta previa can occur again.
