When there is some sensation of a foreign body in the throat, it can be a foreign body itself when ingested while eating inadvertently or it could be because of a swelling of the tissues in the throat. The swelling can hope at the level of the base tongue which is the lingual tonsil . Apart from that the swelling of the pharyngeal tissues because of chronic granular phayrngitis can also give rise to this kind of a sensation. Apart from that in India there are many peel who are anemic and very severe anemia can also give rise to swellings at the lower end of the throat which is the entrance of the esophagus which is the entrance of the esophagus, we call it as the post cricoid area. In that region there can be the formation of folds of tissues that give rise to this kind of a sensation. If the sensation persist and does not go with the use of gargles, it is necessary that you meet your ENT specialist and identify the cause for which it ha s to be treated.
