Will open pores shrink after Laser treatment? – Dr. Nischal K

Open Pores are basically the physiological change, the hair follicles opening, they become more patulous or widened pores or a pore with a larger diameter. Sometimes people get confused with small scars which can happen because of acne or because of atrophoderma. So we have to differentiate between these two. So open pores, when the collagen is stimulated in the skin, they get a better support. And they look less prominent. In open pores when the collagen is stimulated in the skin, they get the support and they look less prominent. It is not that we are able to shrink the open pores. But when they iv support to the underlying structures, then they do not look prominent. When we do lasers for open pores, it stimulates collagen and hyaluronic acid within the skin and when these increases, they give better support to the follicles, they stretch the skin and the pores look less prominent. As the collagen starts reducing with age, that is the collagen is not maintained properly and you do not do anything to stimulate the collagen, gradually the collagen starts coming down. So whatever we do for the open pores, it has to be sustained and more regular thing. We do the treatment more regularly 3 – 4 weeks initially and when people improve, we reduce the frequency. So you can get a treatment of laser, microneedle RF or microneedling, mesotherapy. So it is maintained once in 3 – 6 months and it is improved.
